lumulupyo vs. mulupyo

Someone here complained about the translation of these words. So, I've reread all my sources (dictionaries, blogs and personal communications).

The consensus is, mulopyo is just a short form of the word lumulupyo.  Hence, both word should have the same translation.

Take note molupyo  is a misspelling, the correct spelling is mulupyo.  It is a noun and it should not have a verbal prefix mo-. I hope this will satisfy your curiosity.

Spelling

Maayong adlaw sa tag-iya sa site.

I really appreciate doing this site for the Cebuanos and the Visayan-speaking people. If i may suggest, use the dictionary by the Akademiyang Binisaya for uniformity of the Cebuano spelling. The Akademiyang Binisaya is now the official partner of the DepEd in the multi-lingual policy which has been implemented in Grades 1 to 3.

By the way, you are right that molupyo is a misspelling because the entire word is a rootword and a native Cebuano. So, the rule on O & U should be followed. The correct spelling is mulupyo. The verb form MO should not be spelled as MU as practised by the young generation and in Facebook. I have several notes about Cebuano:  http://juntariman.wordpress.com/masscom-class/cebuano-journalism-101/

Thanks for sharing this Cebuano site.
