Help, please?

A friend mentioned a Bisaya word to me, which roughly translates to "pretending to be an expert", but I forgot what it is. Any suggestions on this? It's just a single word. Other possible meanings include "acting as though it's not new" or "pretending you're good". If it's any help, the word sounds like a common English or Tagalog word, but I can't remember what that word is either. Sorry, I'm trying to build up on my Bisaya vocabulary.

as-ip or aron-ingnon

There are two words we used to mean "to pretend"   aron-ingnon and the colloquial as-ip (from the English "as if").
These words are usually prefixed with the prefix  pa-.
e.g.   paas-ip or paaron-ingon
