I would like to learn the language

Dear All

I come from Singapore & have the privilege to travel to philippines for vacation. I would love to learn some visayan language after visiting some of the philipppine islands. How do i go about learning the basic? Is there any reference or something for me to start off with. I hope to be able to understand & answer some simple questions during a conversation or self introduction. eg. hello, thank you.

After the previous visit, would love to come back for more vacations here as philippines has alot more to offer & would like to get to know the culture, people & language etc.

Your guidance is much appreciated.

Thank you!

• Cross-references - This will also help you find the right word and discover some related entries.
• Mini English dictionary - These embedded sub-entries define some technical, foreign, or difficult words
• Search box - A search tool that extracts all entries containing your English or Cebuano keyword
• Search history - This is designed to easily retrieve previously viewed entries
• Resize Text - Magnifies fonts to four different sizes to aid those who cannot read fine words
• Audio EDGE pronunciation - Learn to pronounce Cebuano words by listening to pronunciation audios *
• Interactive notes and comments - You can write and add your personal notes or comments about the entry
• Book version - Contains samples of the book version of this dictionary for more updated entries *

I’m distributing free copies of this dictionary in CD form anywhere I go in the country.

I developed this project to help preserve and to share the heritage of our language, promote its usage, as well as guard its value against loss due to ignorance, neglect, and indifference. This is also for the non-Cebuano speakers, including foreigners, who want to know or improve the Cebuano-English vocabulary. Let this be my humble contribution to harmonize the many tongues and become not like the biblical story of the “Tower of Babel.” Understanding the universal language and more about Philippine languages would help us build the tower of harmony and unity among us.

I devote most of my life promoting Cebuano, just like Litogo.

Mabuhi ka!
