Finally there is a web site for Binisaya! Thank you very much for putting up this forum and dictionary. With the aggressive tagalogization of the Visayas region  which is largely due to national mass-based TV shows and ignorance of Manila-based policy makers, its about time Cebuano speakers take action. The TV shows such of the CBN-CBN, the Kapuso/Kapamilya type are pervading in every household in the region. Now, even my 20-year old brother in law who grew up in Butuan City cannot speak straight Binisaya. He speaks only taglish complete with the accent of a Manila youngster: 'Te pwede ba maghiram sa "corrh" kay mag "torr" 'mi ni Pauloh? He said this with his lips tightened and tongue retreated at the roof of the mouth.

Ignorant Manila-based bureaucrats such as those in the National Census who categorized Boholano as distinct language from Cebuano and Binisaya as different from Cebuano have also contributed to the marginalization of Cebuano/Binisaya language.

There was a surge in Binisaya literature in the early half of the 20th century (1900-1950) which gradually died down starting the 1970s. I do not wish to get back to that old glory. My only wish that native Visayan should not be a stranger to their own language. At home, I insist that my kids learn Binisaya. There is so much to be done: this online dictionary is a very significant move. Spelling and grammar standardization is another worthy project.
