"BisDak" from the Heart

It was the month of May when the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage was celebrated at work.  I was part of the committee that planned the celebration and promised a dance performance.  I wanted my Filipino and Hawaiian heritage to be represented and celebrated.  Since I own several specially hand made grass skirts from Cebu, and mastered some hula moves, I thought of dancing to the Hawaiian and Islands' sounds.  With some friends from Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Iloilo, & Davao, the "BisDak" dance group was formed.  I asked, what could be a better name than "BisDak" when the dancers are Bisayans?  "BisDak" came from my heart, so be it!

The "BisDak" dancers performed to the music, "Hawaii 5 O" and "I want to go back to my little grass shack...", and entertained the audience to the Islands' sounds and hula dancing.  We had a great turn out.  Everyone enjoyed the performance and the dancers received appreciation certificates personally signed by my director.  From this very first performance, more invitations to perform started coming our way.  We performed at our best in several birthdays for friends.  We became the "BisDak" Hula Dancers.

The name "BisDak" came to mind way before I learned about this site and through this site, the Bisdak radio station. It was truly from the heart!
